Charting your path to cleaner air.Built on Experience. Run Like a Family.
Voyager Air Duct Cleaning was founded on a single belief — that every home is worth treating with care, and every customer is worth telling the truth. This is the story of the crew that lives by it.
Our Story
A Company Built on Restoration
Voyager isn't a story about ducts. It's a story about restoration — of homes, of air, of what's possible when you decide to look for the good.
Years before Voyager existed, Kenny Gunnels was already in the field — cleaning ducts for someone else's company. Long enough to learn the trade. Long enough to see how most companies do it. And long enough to know there had to be a better way.
What he saw, again and again, was the same shortcut: phone quotes instead of inspections, superficial cleanings of the vent instead of real work, technicians who treated houses like job sites instead of homes. He didn't fault the people doing it — that was just the industry standard. But he believed homeowners deserved better. And he believed the work could be done in a way that actually fixed what was wrong, not just rearranged it.
When Kenny started a duct cleaning company, he didn't see it the way most people do. Most people think of duct cleaning as something you add to a house. Kenny saw it as something that brings a house back — back to the air it was built to have, back to a healthier place to breathe, back to the way a home should feel.
That belief — that the work isn't about adding, it's about returning — became the soul of the company. It became why we don't quote over the phone. It became why we inspect first. It became the reason we built the Voyager Compass, the four-step methodology that runs every single visit. And it became the reason a crew of five people now show up to homes across Columbus, Phenix City, Auburn, and Opelika doing the work the same way, every day.
Meet the Crew
Six People. One Standard.
Voyager isn't built around equipment or uniforms. It's built around six people — a captain, finance & operations, a director of discovery, an expert guide, a lead navigator, and a navigator — who show up to every home holding the same line.
Founder • Captain of the Crew
Kenny Gunnels
Founder & Captain
Kenny started Voyager Air Duct Cleaning after years working in the industry for someone else — long enough to know the trade inside and out, and long enough to know it could be done a better way. He built Voyager to prove it. He's NADCA-certified, has personally trained every member of the crew, and still rides along on inspections any time he can.
He's the one who set the standard. He's the one who holds it. And the reason "look for the good" is the company's north star is because it's how he believes the work — and the people who do it — should show up: honestly, thoroughly, and with care for the homes we step into.
When you call Voyager, even if Kenny doesn't answer the phone, you're calling the company he built around that belief. Every member of the crew knows it. Every job we run reflects it.
NADCA Certified • Trains the Crew
Bobbie
Finance & Operations
Bobbie runs everything behind the scenes that keeps the ship moving forward. From customer communications to billing, payroll, and financial oversight, she's the one making sure every detail is accounted for long before and after the crew ever arrives. She brings a level of precision and consistency that allows the rest of the team to operate at a high level — without things slipping through the cracks. The kind of person you may not always see, but you feel her work in every part of the experience.
Garrett
Director of Discovery
Garrett is usually the first Voyager you'll meet — just not in your house. He runs the brand: the marketing, the storytelling, the videos that show homeowners what we actually do before we ever knock on a door. His job is making sure people in Columbus, Phenix City, Auburn, and Opelika know there's a different way to do this work — and what it looks like when someone does.
Joey
Expert Guide
Joey has been doing this work long enough to know what most homeowners don't even think to ask — and patient enough to walk them through it without ever making them feel like they should have known. He'll show you what he found, explain why it matters, and answer every question until you're confident in what to do next.
Matt
Lead Navigator
Matt leads the crew in the field. Every job he runs is mapped to the Voyager Compass, every detail accounted for from the moment the red carpet rolls out to the final walk-through. He's the steady hand on complex jobs and the person Kenny trusts when a customer needs the work done exactly right.
Jason
Navigator
Jason runs the equipment, the cleaning, and the protection of every home he steps into. He treats the homes he works in the way he'd want his own treated — covering floors, watching the corners, leaving every space the way he wishes he'd found it. The kind of crew member you don't have to check on, because the work always speaks first.
What We Stand For
What We Believe
We don't have a list of company values on the wall. We have five things we actually believe — and try to live up to on every job.
We believe the air in your home matters. Not as a statistic, not as an upsell — as the literal substance you and the people you love breathe ten thousand times a day. Most people will never connect how they feel inside their home to what's inside the walls. We want to be the company that does.
We believe in inspecting first. Refusing to quote over the phone isn't a sales policy — it's a respect policy. You can't honestly tell a homeowner what they need until you've actually looked. So we look first. Every time. For free.
We believe in doing the right thing when no one's watching. There's a difference between cleaning a vent and pulling the blower to clean what's behind it. There's a difference between saying we'll protect your floors and actually rolling out a red runner carpet at the door. The difference shows up in the work — and in the trust that follows.
We believe specialists do better work than generalists. Every other "duct cleaning" in our area is a side service to HVAC or carpet cleaning. We chose to do one thing — and to do it the way it should be done. That's not a marketing claim. It's a daily decision we make against the easier path.
We believe a home is more than an address. A customer is more than a transaction. And if you do the work like that — every visit, every customer, every time — the rest takes care of itself. That's not optimism. That's what we've watched happen for years.
Our Mission
Why We Get Up Every Morning
"We create better lives through expert guidance — by delivering inspection-first discovery and solutions for hidden problems in homes and buildings."
A lot of mission statements are written to sound impressive. This one is written to be lived. Here's what each part actually means:
"Better lives" is the part most people skip. We believe the air you breathe at home affects how you feel, how your kids do in school, how your allergies behave, how your family sleeps. Most people will never connect those things to a duct system. We want to be the company that does — and the company that fixes them.
"Expert guidance" is the second half. Most homeowners have never seen inside their ductwork. We see ourselves not as a vendor selling a service, but as guides helping people understand a part of their home they were never taught about. We answer questions. We show photos. We explain. Then we leave the decision in your hands — without pressure, without urgency tactics, without a script.
"Inspection-first discovery and solutions for hidden problems" is the practice. We don't quote over the phone. We don't sell services blind. We come out, we look, we explain — and only then do we recommend. That's the mission. It's not a poster on a wall. It's how every job runs.
The Standard
How a Voyager Becomes a Voyager
Voyager doesn't hire technicians. We hire people we'd trust in our own homes — and then we train them to do the work the way it should be done.
Every crew member is trained the same way Kenny trains himself: against the NADCA standard, against the Voyager Compass methodology, and against the standard Kenny would want for his own family. Skills can be taught. Care can't. We hire for care first.
When you book a Voyager visit, you're not getting a stranger off a contractor list. You're getting a member of a crew that knows each other, trains together, and shows up at every job with the same standard of work — because that's the only way we know how to do it.

Meet Us at Your Home
The best way to know if Voyager is your crew is to have us out for a free inspection. One hour. No pressure. A clear answer about what your system actually needs.
